Fan Art: The Sacred Blacksmith

To my dismay, I found out that one of my favorite animes is being removed from Netflix in 3 days. I spend the majority of today watching the entire series while doing homework then topped it off by doing a fan drawing.

From the Desk of AOK

Ready, set, let's go! AOK is going in my portfolio for college admissions. Yes, those are the originals super glued with poster glue to card stock. Although it was heartbreaking to cut them out, they're going to reach new heights (hopefully!).

Good luck my babies!

New Header;

I thought it was about time for a new header for the blog. That, and I accidentally put 6 fingers on one hand. It was bugging me so much and I had no time to fix it, but I finally did!

Let's play Slender!

So Nolan and I played Slender, and my dad thought it would be funny to scare us. Sure scared the poop right out of me!

Thoughts from Kyra: Bullying

Bullying: it's a problem that is sweeping schools and spreading like a disease. Although it's always been around, the internet is spreading different stories and forms of bullying like a disease.

Recently, a ton of stories of bullying victims have been coming up. Demi Lovato, a successful music recording artist and X-Factor judge, has come out and shared her story about how she was bullied when she was younger. Furthermore, she met a girl on the X-Factor (I cant remember her name at the moment.) who had a similar story and related to Demi. For those of you who dont know Demi's story, she was driven to the point of cutting and other related abusive actions toward herself.

Another example is the story of Amanda Todd. She was bullied, abused, was driven to drugs, and then eventually she took her own life. Her story is a sad one and worth looking into.

We always find out that people were bullied too late and we don't say anything until after we have found out. While someone is being bullied, we dont know what's going on in their lives. We don't think of asking because that person looks and seems normal to us. We push them to the side and say: "Oh, they'll be okay. S/he is smiling on the outside."

Once the bullying starts to show on the outside or it turns to something more drastic, then we start saying things about them or we start sharing their story. In Amanda's case, people probably did not think about her or her feelings. All they could say were nasty things about her and even went as far to beat her. Once Amanda took her own life, her story was spread on the internet and people started to say nice things about her. People felt sorry when they read her story and shared it with others.

The main reason as to why this post exists is the concept of people not fixing the problem before it started to escalate. Why cant people stand up for kids who are being bullied right off the bat? Wouldn't there be less sad stories and more successful stories of getting over bullying?

Another way to put this is if people would reach out a helping hand to a kid who isn't doing so hot, there probably wouldn't be as many sad stories like Amanda's. Seeing a kid who's alone, crying, sad, or being bullied by someone and not reaching out is like watching a puppy being kicked. If you see someone, making an effort to talk to them or stand up for them could make a huge difference in their lives.

I will leave you with a question: If you were being bullied, would you want to see a hand reached out in friendship or a fist to hurt you?

Things one ought to know;

Dear Readers of AOK,

It's been a while, hasn't it? Although I have not been posting on my blog for almost 2 months, my characters have been making special appearances on almost all of my homework assignments in one way or another. Now that school has started, I don't have the leisure time to draw whenever I want. I actually have to learn and work on college application stuff. I have developed a plan as of September 18th for AOK in the next few months and this plan will hopefully stick for a while until Senior Projects and college stuff get in the way:

The Plan That is The Law

1. AOK is going to post one comic/piece a week. This will be a computer processed work or a well done pen drawing depending on the time crunch of the week.
2. Every time I draw a character or event on a homework assignment, I will take a picture and post it. If any of you have my classes, you might be getting some answers to assignments.
3. Questions are still available for the asking. I'm down with drawing responses.
4. There will be a text and photo update every Friday about life, school, youth group etc. This might take a while to get up and running, but it shall happen!

Well, that's all for now. I must go piece together a resume for my Personal Finance class, and sleep. Oh sweet blissful sleep.

My Dashboard for my blog and how I view it;

I noticed I had 1234 views overall, and thought I would show y'all. But It got out of control...

Reasons as to why AOK hasn't been updating recently/ My busy life;

Many of you probably wonder, "What are you doing with your summer, Kyra?" Well, people who like to know intimate details about my personal life, LISTEN UP because this post is for you!

Along with all the things a teenager should be doing during the summer, (Such as hanging out with friends, eating food, staying up to all hours etc.) I have other priorities to take care of.

I have an internship that I have been working tirelessly on redesigning a hand out for The RE Store down in Ballard WA. Naturally, I've been learning inDesign and Adobe Illustrator. I'm having no problems with inDesign, but when I use Illustrator, I find myself slamming my head into the desk.

The Hawkeye has been planning things for next year, and I have been working on sweatshirt designs in Photoshop and also have made business cards. I get a break from complicated programs and get to use the one thing I'm good at! I've also been working closely with the Editor-In-Chief (who so happens to be none other than my best friend Michelle) and the rest of leadership in planning the upcoming year. Let's just say for now, that my senior year in Hawkeye will be FANTASTIC.

I should also mention that I have AP homework, but alas, I need to get working on that. I also have vacations coming up which include, Fort Flagler Camping on the Olympic Peninsula, The Hawkeye Leadership Retreat in my exotic backyard, and Cama Beach with my dad's side of the family! Who knows, there just might be some posts on here inspired by these events!

Well, that's all for now! I hope your summer is just as eventful as mine if not more!

Video Announcement;

Dear Readers of AOK,

Today, July 18th 2012, Adventures of Kyra reached the summer goal of 1000 views in less than one month of summer. Originally, I had planned 1000 views for the whole summer, but this goal was smashed through! My new goal is 2000, which I think will be an easy feat.

I would like to thank everyone who even typed in my web address, searched my blog on Google, clicked the links I posted to Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook, or even showed it to friends. You guys keep this blog going, and without you, I would just be posting silly little comics on the internet with no intention at all. This blog wasn't just made for me to post my things, but it was made for people to actually see what I've been doing!

I know I touch on this in the video, but there will be more .gifs and maybe even some video animation. I am trying to work blogging into my schedule filled with my internship and my high school newspaper.

Alright, so thank you so very much for coming to my blog and I am looking forward to the 2,000 views video:)

Update;

Dear Readers of AOK,

I would like to apologize for amount of content that has been posted in the last week. My family just got back from a trip to Great Wolf Lodge, and I have nothing planned for the majority of the week. I will upload content this week. Suggestions would be helpful, as I don't know what to draw!

Thanks a ton for coming back though! 800+ views on here! Keep it up!~

Something a Bit Different;

Here's some fan art I did from My Little Pony; Friendship is Magic! This is Octavia and she's one of the background ponies. This is what she would look like if she were human.

Let's Get Digital;

To celebrate the +500 views of AOK, this was born.
